oops - my apoligies to the forums Floridians - no offense was intended :) But 80 sounds nice right now - i need a vacation somewhere nice and warm. But you are probably being belted with humidity too, so that kinda sucks.

Thanks man and happy holidays. Enjoy the time with your kid...this is my first year that no one believes in Santa. It really changes the feel of the holidays. Enjoy it while it lasts.

My girl is 5 and my wife and I fear this will be the last since the bigger kids on the playground will spill the beans. Glad to know you got into and past the first grade. It's truly the only reason I like Christmas is because of how excited she is; otherwise, I'll take Thanksgiving - food, family, football and no freaking shopping.

my kids are in a K-3 public school and they have been safe so far. Next year my 8 year old hits the 4-8 middle school, so that "may" be a problem - i'll protect to the death though, until it doesn't serve them well socially.

You never know, you may have a few more years left, i surely hope you do man. maybe ive lucked out, don't know. Here's hopin there's at least 3 more for your child and you my friend!!!!!!! Merry Christmas to you, your wife, and your precious little one - that's awesome!!

As long as you know what the teachers are actually teaching, social, sexual...lot's of Public schools are controlled by a corrupt Teachers Union, imo, and have an agenda that you may or may not agree with.
If I had children, they would be in private schools.
That's just me though. I don't trust goverment schools. Something's should be taught by parent's. Trouble is, in public schools, there are lot of folks who don't care and the education is dumbed down and (ahem) politically motivated.

i couldn't agree more my friend. right now, with my finances, being divorced and all, the private school education just isn't in the cards. I went to private schools and that is what i wanted for my kids. Hopefully by highschool i can swing it.

Totally agree with the teacher union thing - even though a couple of my family members are firmly entrenched within. your point is more than well taken in my mind. Don't know if you know much about our massachusetts MCASS tests, but they are total bullshit, and the teachers dumb down to them and totally stifle any form of creativity in thinking within the classroom. A total joke. No wonder the Asians (not disparaging at all) are way way ahead of us in education.
